Cygnus Star Works Sci-Fi Miniature Spaceship Display Bubonicon 56 2025
The Space Dio-Rama V1 is set to debut at Bubonicon 56 in Albuquerque NM August 2025 in the Art Show! This special exhibit features Spaceship Miniatures set in a Star Field Nebula background and a Black Hole. The exhibit art pieces comprise of kit bashed LED illuminated space vehicles set in a interactive environment of all hand made original Special FX Artworks.
The Version 2/upgrade to this display is being designed with more art, interactivity and a Laser Light show!
JP demonstrates Model “Kit-Bashing” in the Sci-Fi display with 7 unique/original miniature designs & a Box-Stock SNW Enterprise all with SPFX lighting systems. JP collects model kits/parts using what he calls “Jazz Improvisation” in merging and connecting hull assemblies together along with other found details and sheet Styrene plastic. These designs all emerged from an imaginative building process experimenting (combining /placing the parts) during pre-construction. It is likened to creating a puzzle while designing the puzzle pieces simultaneously.
JP employs custom LED lighting from scratch, in some cases using recycled toys/other electronics in what is called “circuit bending” in the hacker communities. Each creation is unique with on board battery “Wireless Free Flight” electronic systems. JP’s creative processes culminates in these finished miniatures being shown here in this custom “Cygnus Star Works” space field display for everyone to enjoy 🙂

Original Cannibal Ship Inspired from one of my favorite shows, this model uses a Kazon torpedo body with kit parts, styrene & custom LED/Fiber Optics lighting system.

S.N.W. Enterprise Box-stock model kit w/custom LED/Fiber Optics/Saucer Navigational lighting system, Custom made Stand/Base w/battery pack, color changing LED for ambient lighting. After Market Decal application for Hull “Aztec” Paneling.
Starfield Space Backdrop created using a Black cotton fabric (velcro on a custom folding wooden frame), soldering mini LED’s and gluing them into the back through pin holes, wiring them together on an umbilical that connects on either side. The Nebula and Black Hole are built with re-cycle/purposed materials, LED’s and polyester Pillow stuffing & lots of imagination 🙂
